Kamala Harris is the Prosecutor we Need in this Moment.

Friends, this moment deserves our attention before we lose the democracy so many of us grew up revering in 8th grade civics class.

I felt very strongly our ticket and had a great sense of how we get ourselves out of the mess that was 2020 and bring stability and steady, drama-free government back to America. I am so damn proud of the Democratic party for being *fully IN array* for the past ~5 years.

Remember where those dark days started: 700,000 Americans dead from COVID, a reeling economy, and a straight-up violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol that threatened the lives of the Vice-President and Speaker of the House. Unprecedented no longer applies as a term any more because we’ve worn it out in the name of chaos and ratings.

Joe Biden was the servant-leader that the country required in that moment to return us to a sense of normalcy, the rule of law, and a functioning government that gets things done for everyday American people. I’ve often said that if you have a problem with Joe Biden, you aren’t being fair or paying attention. We were lucky to have such a steady, kind, honest, straightforward, middle-of-the-road man at the helm for four years — he is not the boogeyman that the Brandon folks would have you terrified of. By almost every measurable metric, we are better off than we were four years ago.

I was hoping we’d have more time as a body politic to argue over the future of the Democratic party — but that future surprisingly arrived early this weekend thanks to strong and selfless leadership. I am astonished at how fast our movement and such a vast swath of the country have coalesced behind Vice-President Harris. So this is our new moment which is ours to seize — the arguing and self-doubt are behind us.

Vice-President Harris is the *prosecutor* we need now in this new moment. The Republican party had four years to course-correct and figure out how to cure themselves of the malignancy that is Trump. But they didn’t do that, choosing instead to double-down — their platform is only narcissism and meanness.

I am very much looking forward to the prosecutor taking on the felon head to head.

Kamala Harris will prosecute our case on the campaign trail for a hopeful and progressive vision for the future of America. She will prosecute the constant stream of lies coming from the other party with reckless abandon. She will secure the rule of law for another four years to allow space for the prosecution of long overdue justice — slow as those wheels grind forward — to bring some accountability for the crimes of the former administration. But more than all of those things, she will prosecute and fiercely defend the attacks on our personal and civil rights and our ability to live free in a multiracial democracy where we solve our problems through discussion and collaboration instead of at the end of a AR-15 or a noose.

Those are all the reasons I support Harris and will put my money and my energy on the line to elect her. If you are onboard and want to help, avail yourself of the resources below or message me and I will get you plugged in. If you are solidly thumbs-down, I would ask you to perform a 30-day media detox and then let’s have a coffee chat based on the policy facts and as Americans who care for our country.

Let’s get to work: the choice on the ballot is proven, progressive leadership or self-serving fascism that will hurt so many Americans in too many ways to list (if you aren’t familiar, go take a look at Project 2025).

First, either register or double-check your voter registration while there is still time.

Second, donate if you can — any amount helps and the earlier the better. My friend Paulette always tells the story of not having the money to buy a freaking printer for a field office in Pennsylvania early in the ’08 cycle but being flush with cash in October when it was too late to spend it — early money has greater impact!

Next, if you prefer to dedicate your time and energy, there are lots of events available where you pitch in when you can — even for just a few remote phone calls.

Then, vote early so you can be free to help others vote on election day. Look up your state/precinct and find the early or mail-in voting rules.

And finally, join a Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) plan for election day and weekend to get out there knocking on doors and talking to voters about how important this election is to so many of our communities and friends and family.

We’ve got work to do together, so let’s roll. #StillFiredUp

(PS — I’ve been waiting for the day when FREEDOM’s “painting white flags blue” would be our battle cry!) 💙💪🇺🇸
